Joerns Healthcare came to us frustrated that their offline ordering system for a key product was hindering the sales and fulfillment process.
Joerns is a major supplier of patient handling equipment to the NHS, care homes and private residences. As part of the patient lifting solution, Joerns supplies prescriptive lifting slings in a range of materials, sizing and strengths.
Prescribing a lifting sling is a highly intricate process with many variables, including patient weight, height, mobility and in some cases, amputees.
We took an audience sample and asked them to describe their ideal journey when ordering slings online. The sample was made up of clinicians (NHS and private), occupational therapists and private care professionals.
We used the group findings to lay the foundations for the user journey, and harnessed weaknesses found in competitor solutions to provide additional intuitiveness and usability.
The live version guides the user through 5 prescriptive stages, requesting information and data required to assess the patient's lifting and mobility needs. Once the 5 stages are complete, the user is presented with the most suitable sling profile and can order it direct from Joerns's distribution centre.
